A significant number of Sierra Leone Police (SLP) officers have completed intensive training in public order management, forensic science, technology, and cybersecurity, led by First YUMAJ Consultancy Group with government support. At the closing ceremony, Inspector General William Fayia Sellu emphasized that this private-led initiative—marking a first on the academy’s campus—aims to strengthen SLP’s operational skills amid rising security challenges. Sellu highlighted the initiative’s alignment with President Julius Maada Bio’s human capital development strategy, underscoring its role in enhancing collaboration among police and security agencies.

Over six weeks, officers underwent rigorous training across various locations, gaining practical skills in public order, command-and-control, and cybersecurity. Sellu commended participants for their commitment, noting that the training fosters teamwork and represents a shift toward a service-oriented SLP. The training also complements ongoing reforms, including updates to the Police Act of 1964.

Deputy National Security Coordinator Ahmed Sannoh praised feedback from officers indicating improved readiness. Alhaji Yusuf Manjalo, CEO of First YUMAJ, lauded the officers’ dedication and donated equipment, including cameras and first-aid kits, to further support police training initiatives.
