SLFA Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawah announced the official start date for Sierra Leone’s Male Premier League, set for November 23, 2024. Bawah shared the news during a meeting on October 28 with NSA Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai at NSA headquarters, where he also introduced the new league board.
Bawah stated, “Presenting board members to the NSA is standard practice, and this board has already begun its duties.”
Dr. Abdulai commended the board, stressing that 80% of government funding should support club salaries, enhancing football’s job creation role. He highlighted progress toward a professional league that attracts international players, envisioning even broader appeal with ongoing government support.
He urged the board to uphold match integrity, maintaining fixture stability and handling protests efficiently. He also encouraged collaboration with TV networks for live game coverage.
Board Chairman Magistrate Mark Ngegba assured the NSA of their dedication to integrity and transparency, ready to tackle any challenges along the way.
