The newly appointed European Union Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jacek Jankowski, has arrived in Freetown, marking the beginning of his mission to strengthen the partnership between the EU and Sierra Leone. Ambassador Jankowski landed at Freetown International Airport, expressing his enthusiasm for his new role and his commitment to fostering deeper ties between the two entities.
“I’m honored to arrive in Sierra Leone and eager to continue building on the strong cooperation between the EU and Sierra Leone,” Ambassador Jankowski said upon his arrival. He extended his gratitude to his predecessor, Ambassador Müller, for his valuable support during the transition and emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in their collaborative efforts.
“I look forward to the journey ahead and the progress we will achieve together,” he added.
In a display of his eagerness to connect with the local community, Ambassador Jankowski addressed Sierra Leoneans in Krio, stating, “Mi Salone fambul, a gladi fɔ kam wok wit una ɔl,” which translates to “My Sierra Leone family, I am happy to come work with all of you.” This gesture was warmly received, reflecting his intent to engage closely with the people of Sierra Leone throughout his tenure.
