Gbandoma Alfred Sovula Esq., son of former Inspector General of Police Ambrose Sovula, has made history as Sierra Leone’s youngest Paramount Chief. At just 34, Sovula triumphed in the Bumpeh Ngao Chiefdom chieftaincy election in Bo District, Southern Province. This significant victory underscores his rising influence in local governance.
The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) confirmed Sovula’s decisive win with 77% of the vote, securing 805 out of the total votes cast. His opponent, Makavore Moses Samba, received 241 votes, representing 23.04% of the ballots.
Sovula’s victory is not only a personal milestone but also a testament to the confidence the people of Bumpeh Ngao Chiefdom have in his leadership capabilities. His election brings a youthful perspective to the traditional chieftaincy institution, signaling a generational shift in local leadership.
