VP Jalloh Urges Better Governance at 2025 Budget Hearings

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Brookfields Hotel in Freetown, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh emphasized the need for enhanced governance during the FY 2025 budget hearings.

He began by commending the Minister of Finance and his team for their efforts in stabilizing the economy amidst global challenges. Describing the FY 2025 budget as “bridge budgeting,” he highlighted its aim to build on current achievements and support the Big Five Game Changers.

The Vice President praised the decision to avoid tax increases and stressed the importance of improving tax management and governance in key sectors like public utilities to ease the government’s financial burden. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Ministries of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Tourism, and Lands in boosting government revenue.
