On November 14, 2024, President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye of Senegal formally received Letters of Credence from Sierra Leone’s newly appointed Ambassador, H.E. Ibrahim Turay, at the Palais de la République in Dakar.
Ambassador Turay, a seasoned professional with over eight years of experience in Senegal, previously served as a Fisheries Expert and Monitoring Specialist under the World Bank’s West Africa Regional Fisheries Program. His tenure involved supporting ten West African coastal nations, equipping him with deep regional expertise to bolster diplomatic and economic ties.
This appointment comes as Sierra Leone and Senegal strengthen their partnership, following a June 2024 joint trade agreement targeting key sectors like energy, agriculture, and tourism. As the fourth ambassador since 2011, Turay aims to advance economic diplomacy and foster mutual benefits for both nations.
