President Bio Discusses Development with World Bank Chief

On the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio held a fruitful meeting with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga. Their discussion focused on key development priorities, including expanding energy access, addressing food insecurity, increasing budget support, and promoting women’s empowerment.

President Bio commended Banga for the reforms at the World Bank, particularly the Global Challenge Programs, which align with Sierra Leone’s Medium-Term National Development Plan (2024-2030).

As an advocate for the International Development Association (IDA21), President Bio reaffirmed his support for a strong replenishment of IDA21, crucial for low-income countries like Sierra Leone.

This meeting highlighted the ongoing collaboration between Sierra Leone and the World Bank to advance sustainable development goals.
