President Julius Maada Bio has acted on the recommendations of a tribunal investigating the suspended Auditor-General, Mrs. Lara Taylor-Pearce, and Deputy Auditor-General, Mr. Tamba Momoh, resulting in their removal from office.
Mrs. Taylor-Pearce and Mr. Momoh were suspended in November 2021 over allegations of misconduct, leading to the establishment of a tribunal to investigate the charges.
President Bio received the tribunal’s report on June 12, 2024. Following a thorough review, he has directed the following actions:
- The Attorney-General will initiate proceedings to remove Mrs. Taylor-Pearce in accordance with Sierra Leone’s 1991 Constitution.
- The Audit Service Board will pursue the removal of Mr. Momoh.
These actions are pursuant to section 137(7) of Sierra Leone’s 1991 Constitution.
