Focus 1,000 has launched a groundbreaking strategic plan on November 26, 2024, at the Bintumani International Conference Centre in Freetown, aimed at improving youth access to family planning resources in Sierra Leone. The plan focuses on reproductive health education, reducing teenage pregnancies, promoting male involvement in family planning, and enhancing peer counseling. CEO Alhaji Bailor Jalloh emphasized the importance of dispelling misconceptions about family planning, which is often linked to abortion.
The event also honored retiring staff members Dr. Samuel Pratt and Paul Sengeh, founding members who made significant contributions to the organization’s success. Jalloh highlighted their ongoing role as technical advisors.
While celebrating this milestone, Focus 1,000 also acknowledged the challenges of securing funding and building stronger partnerships with cultural and religious institutions. The organization is investing in staff capacity-building to overcome these hurdles and continue its impactful work.
