The Government of Sierra Leone has released its Fiscal Strategy Statement (FSS) for 2025-2027, forecasting steady export growth and a moderate rise in imports. Aligned with the Public Financial Management Act of 2016, the FSS provides a trade outlook that builds on recent export successes, especially in iron ore, and reflects evolving global demand.
The FSS projects a stable export growth rate, with a 0.5% rise in 2025 as commodity demand stabilizes globally. This growth is expected to accelerate to 4.8% in 2026 before moderating at 2.7% in 2027. On imports, the FSS reports a 3.3% contraction in 2023, followed by a recovery of 7.2% in 2024. Import growth will then decelerate to 3.6% in 2025 and 1.5% in 2027, supporting a balanced trade approach focused on sustainable growth.
This fiscal strategy underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and resilient economic planning, aiming to support stable growth amid global market fluctuations and promote long-term economic stability.
