Chief Minister Sengeh Meets Freetown Mayor on Service Delivery

Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh met with the Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs and Freetown City Council (FCC) officials to discuss how the central government can enhance service delivery for Local Councils.

FCC Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyer highlighted the rapid growth in service delivery, mentioning the Kingtom Treatment Plant’s waste management and transformation into briquettes. She also noted FCC’s efforts in education, waste management, and urban beautification.

Minister Tamba Lamina thanked the Chief Minister for the engagement and urged for timely fund allocation to Local Councils to improve service delivery.

Dr. Sengeh emphasized the need for central government support in four key areas: service delivery, ministerial performance contracts, the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2024-2030, and financing Local Councils through technology and cooperation. He acknowledged the importance of optimizing garbage collection, especially during the rainy season, and praised FCC’s job creation efforts aligned with President Julius Maada Bio’s Youth Empowerment Scheme.

Dr. Sengeh committed to collaborating with various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to provide technical support to FCC and enhance service delivery.
