Abdul Kpaka Remanded Over Alleged Girlfriend’s Murder

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, Abdul Kpaka appeared in court over allegations of murdering his girlfriend, Sia Fatu Kamara. The alleged incident took place on August 13, 2024, at Peninsula Road, Freetown, as stated in the charge sheet. Kpaka is charged with murder, in violation of Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the charge, Kpaka allegedly killed Kamara by beating her. After the charges were read by Deputy Assistant Registrar Hindolo Kater, Kpaka did not enter a plea.

Lead prosecutor Chief Superintendent of Police Juan Bull requested a brief adjournment, citing the need for the prosecution team to review the case file, which they had just received.

Defence counsel Emmanuel Teddy Koroma extended his condolences to Kamara’s family and emphasized the need for a swift trial, reminding the court that the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Magistrate Bangura adjourned the case to Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
