On Thursday, April 9th, 2024, the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MoHS) of Sierra Leone welcomed a significant boost in its efforts to combat HIV, as it received a generous $17.6 million grant for the fiscal years 2024 and 2025. This funding, approved through collaborative consultations involving civil society organizations, government officials, and local and multilateral partners, marks a pivotal step in advancing HIV service delivery across the nation.
Endorsed by His Excellency Ambassador John Nkengasong, U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, the grant is poised to fortify HIV data systems, bridge community-based service gaps, extend outreach to women and children in need of HIV services, and ensure accountability among service providers through community-led monitoring initiatives.
His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, alongside Minister of Health Dr. Austin Demby and the entire MoH community, extends heartfelt gratitude to the government and people of the United States of America for their unwavering support in this critical endeavor.
