Sierra Leone is set to showcase its talent at the 5th World Nomad Games in Astana, Kazakhstan, with two athletes competing in mass-wrestling. Ansu Bakarr Kamara will represent the country in the 90kg category, facing a Kazakh opponent on Tuesday. The National Sports Authority (NSA), led by Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai, has facilitated their participation, reaffirming its commitment to supporting high-performing sports in Sierra Leone.

The NSA, established by an Act of Parliament, has recently backed teams like the National Amputee Football Team, who won the Fair Play award at the Amputee Football Nations Cup in Cairo, and Sierra Leone gymnasts, who secured gold at the 2nd Baku Gymnastics Showpiece. The Roll Ball National Team also triumphed over Ivory Coast with a 4-2 victory. Dr. Abdulai emphasized that the NSA’s support targets sports with cross-border success, solid governance, and strong national representation.

As Sierra Leone’s athletes compete in Kazakhstan, hopes are high for a strong performance on the global stage.
