The Sierra Leone Police, through its Training Directorate, has commenced a three-day training program aimed at enhancing the skills of senior police investigators in contemporary crime investigation techniques. The training, which began on May 14th and will conclude on May 16th, is being held at the Senior Officers’ Mess in Kingtom. The curriculum covers crucial topics such as the Criminal Modus Operandi System, Contemporaneous Interview Skills, Evidence Management Lapses, Ethics and Professionalism, and Leadership Skills in Managing Change.
During the opening ceremony on May 14, 2024, ACP Esther Kaintor-Dukuray, the Director of Training, emphasized the importance of the training and encouraged participants to actively engage and share their experiences. She highlighted that no one holds a monopoly on knowledge and assured the participants of the facilitators’ expertise. ACP Kaintor-Dukuray also extended greetings from the police management.
DSP Meilah Bangura provided an overview of the training, introducing the facilitators, which include himself, ACP Esther Kaintor-Dukuray, RPG Roberts, CSP Joan M.S. Bull (Esq), and CSP Zizer (Esq). He noted that the training content is designed to equip officers with the latest investigative techniques and expressed hope that participants would pass on their enhanced skills to junior officers under their supervision.
Before the sessions commenced, DSP Mohamed Amara, the Regional Crime Officer for Freetown-West, led participants in establishing ground rules. D/ASP Patricia Koroma, the Crime Officer for Aberdeen Division, concluded the opening by giving a vote of thanks on behalf of all participants, expressing gratitude to the police management for organizing the training.
