President Bio Honors Med-Tulai on World Food Day

President Julius Maada Bio awarded Med-Tulai Agro Dealer, a Makeni-based agribusiness, for its exceptional contribution to food security and agricultural development in Sierra Leone. The award was presented during the World Food Day celebration and the first anniversary of the Feed Salone initiative at the Koidu New Sembehun City stadium in Kailahun.

President Bio commended Med-Tulai’s CEO, Kadija Bangura, for her leadership in empowering female farmers and supporting the Feed Salone agenda. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering private sector participation in agriculture.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, highlighted Med-Tulai’s investments in new tractors and its contribution to the homegrown school feeding program, which supplies locally processed parboiled rice. He encouraged other private actors to follow Med-Tulai’s example in promoting food security through commercial agriculture.

CEO Kadija Bangura dedicated the award to women farmers and expressed her commitment to expanding Med-Tulai’s impact on the rice value chain. As part of the recognition, Med-Tulai received a free combined harvester to enhance productivity.

The award underscores Med-Tulai’s pivotal role in advancing Sierra Leone’s food security efforts.
