The National Sport Authority (NSA) plans to recruit new staff in 2025 to enhance sports development across Sierra Leone and create a supportive environment for talent identification for national and international competitions. This initiative was approved during a board meeting on October 24, 2024.
Chaired by former Minister of Sport Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, the NSA board addressed key issues, including infrastructure development, staff recruitment, and organizing a staff retreat to promote growth in sports nationwide.
The board stressed the importance of maintaining the Authority’s independence to fulfill its statutory duties. They directed the Executive Director to closely monitor the stadium rehabilitation project, which is already behind schedule.
Furthermore, the board agreed to submit the draft National Sports Policy, crafted by ten law graduates, to the Ministry of Sports for approval. They discussed integrating sports into schools and universities, highlighting the need to nurture talent from a young age.
Board members expressed satisfaction with the NSA’s progress and thanked all staff for their contributions to advancing sports in Sierra Leone.
