The National Lands Commission (NLC) has launched an initiative to resolve land disputes and promote fair land ownership in Bombali District and across Sierra Leone. At an event in Bombali, Deputy Commissioner Susan M. Rogers introduced the district’s newly appointed staff: Mr. Amadu Kamara as District Land Commissioner, Lawyer Jeremiah James Vandy as District Alternative Dispute Resolution Officer, and Mr. Moses Patrick Bangura as Office Assistant.

These individuals were selected after a competitive recruitment process. Commissioner Rogers emphasized that the new team will work with local authorities to establish district and section land committees, aiming to raise awareness about the National Land Commission and the Customary Land Rights Act, 2022, which seeks to address land disputes and clarify ownership rights.

District Land Commissioner Kamara, speaking on behalf of the new staff, expressed gratitude to the people of Sierra Leone and President Julius Maada Bio. He stressed the importance of public education on the Commission’s objectives and collaboration with stakeholders to prevent land conflicts and ensure equitable land access.

The staff introduction occurred at the Bombali District Council Hall during a well-attended awareness workshop organized by the NLC, with participation from Paramount Chiefs, Regent Chiefs, and representatives from all 12 chiefdoms, along with civil society, security sector personnel, and the media.
