JMan Petroleum Station, part of the JMan Group of Companies, officially opened yesterday at Grafton-Gbekie Junction in a ceremony marked by reflections on entrepreneurial perseverance and a strong commitment to community development.
Addressing the attendees, JMan’s CEO, Mr. Amadu Kassim Jah, shared his journey from struggle to success. In an emotional speech, he acknowledged the support of his wife, staff, the Minister of Trade and Industry, the Chairman of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA), and his colleagues from other fuel stations. He also extended his gratitude to the local community and family members, crediting their contributions to his achievement.
The Chairman of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency, Mr. Brima Baluwa Koroma while congratulating Mr. Jah on this milestone, lauded the significance of opening the 157th fuel station in Western Urban. He encouraged JMan to expand its operations, aiming for a 5th and 10th station by 2026, positioning the company as a key player in the rapidly growing sector. The Chairman highlighted Sierra Leone’s dramatic expansion in fuel distribution, noting that five years ago, the country had 228 fuel stations, a number that has now almost doubled.
He also reminded the JMan CEO of the PRA’s commitment to promoting fairness and competition, as well as the need for operators to adhere to regulatory standards to ensure efficiency in the market.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Ibrahim Alpha Sesay who was honored to attend the event, echoed the government’s support for entrepreneurs like Mr. Jah. He reiterated the president’s commitment to fuel sector reforms aimed at providing affordable services to the public while ensuring a competitive and sustainable market environment. The Minister also emphasized the importance of private sector initiatives in bolstering national economic progress.
Beyond the business aspect, the event underscored JMan’s dedication to social responsibility. Mr. Jah distributed over 200 school bags to underprivileged students in the Grafton community, an act that was met with appreciation by the local residents. Additionally, the company donated solar-powered lights to the community, addressing a critical need for sustainable energy solutions in the area.
The launch of JMan Petroleum Station is poised to enhance fuel accessibility for the Grafton area, further contributing to economic development and strengthening community ties.
