The Confederation of African Football (CAF) hosted its 2024 Awards ceremony at the Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, celebrating the achievements of African football. The event honored over 20 winners, with football stars, coaches, referees, and dignitaries like FIFA President Gianni Infantino in attendance.

Ademola Lookman Shines as Men’s Player of the Year
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman was crowned CAF Men’s Player of the Year for his stellar performances with Atalanta and the Nigerian national team. Lookman’s win marks back-to-back triumphs for Nigeria after Victor Osimhen’s 2023 victory.

Barbra Banda Dominates Women’s Category
Zambia’s Barbra Banda won CAF Women’s Player of the Year, recognized for leading Orlando Pride to NWSL victories and making Olympic history with a hat-trick at the Paris 2024 Games.

Goalkeeping Stars and Rising Talents Recognized
South Africa’s Ronwen Williams claimed two awards—Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year and Men’s Interclub Player of the Year—while Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie retained her Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year title.
Senegal’s Lamine Camara and Morocco’s Doha El Madani won Young Player of the Year in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.

Coaches and Clubs Honored
Emerse Fae of Côte d’Ivoire and Lamia Boumehdi of TP Mazembe were named Coaches of the Year for leading their teams to historic victories. Al Ahly and TP Mazembe won Men’s and Women’s Club of the Year awards.

Spectacular Goals and Referees Celebrated
Angola’s Mabululu earned Goal of the Year for a stunning strike at AFCON 2023. Referees Mutaz Ibrahim (Libya) and Bouchra Karboubi (Morocco) were recognized for excellence in officiating.

The event underscored the talent and achievements driving African football’s global impact, highlighting both seasoned stars and emerging talents shaping its future.
