The Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea in Sierra Leone has provided a significant boost to the country’s school feeding program.
A donation of 2,400 tons of rice was officially handed over to the World Food Programme (WFP). This generous contribution is expected to benefit over 106,000 schoolchildren across 500 schools throughout Sierra Leone during the coming academic year.
The rice donation will provide vital nourishment for students, promoting their well-being and education. The WFP has expressed its gratitude for the support from the Republic of Korea, noting that this contribution is sure to have a lasting positive impact on the lives of countless students in Sierra Leone.
In addition to the nutritional benefits, the donation is anticipated to improve school attendance and performance by ensuring that children receive at least one substantial meal per day. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to enhance educational outcomes and reduce child hunger in the region.
Furthermore, the partnership between the Republic of Korea and the WFP underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges. By working together, they are making a significant difference in the lives of young students and supporting the development of Sierra Leone’s future generations.
