SLMA Sets Five-Year Strategic Plan

The Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA) has launched a comprehensive five-year strategic plan to boost operational efficiency and position the maritime sector as a cornerstone of national development. The initiative was introduced during a two-day management retreat at Fabulous Resort, where SLMA stakeholders gathered to set strategic goals for advancing Sierra Leone’s maritime sector.

Themed “Strengthening Our Maritime Sector Through Strategic Vision and Leadership,” the event aimed to prioritize maritime safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainable economic growth. SLMA Executive Director Daniel Kaitibie emphasized the significance of this effort, stating, “This retreat allows us to evaluate our progress, tackle challenges, and establish a clear roadmap. Our objective is to make the maritime sector a key driver of national development with high standards for safety and operations.”

Discussions covered critical areas such as vessel registration, safety enforcement, environmental sustainability, and capacity building, with participants engaging in collaborative exercises to enhance innovation and resource optimization.

This strategic plan is expected to serve as a roadmap for the next five years, strengthening SLMA’s commitment to quality service and contributing to Sierra Leone’s economic growth. SLMA is optimistic that the retreat’s outcomes will yield practical solutions to shape the country’s maritime industry and boost its international standing.
