Sierra Leone Mas-Wrestlers Compete in 5th World Nomad Games

Sierra Leone’s Mas-Wrestling team has made its international debut yesterday, September 10, 2024, at the 5th World Nomad Games in Kazakhstan. This is the first time the Mas-Wrestling Association of Sierra Leone has competed on a global stage.

The delegation, which includes athletes Osman Koroma and Ansu Bakarr Kamara, as well as President Noel Kitami Horton and Karifa Thoronka from the Sierra Leone Tug of War Association, arrived in Kazakhstan on September 9. They received a warm welcome from the event organizers.

Today, Osman Koroma will compete in the 105kg category against a Kazakhstan representative, while Ansu Bakarr Kamara will face a Pakistani opponent in the 90kg category. The athletes are excited to represent Sierra Leone and showcase their talents.

The National Sports Authority supported the trip with air tickets, while the event organizers are covering accommodation, meals, security, medical care, and local transportation. The Sierra Leone team is ready to make a strong impression at this prestigious event, marking a significant milestone for the country’s Mas-Wrestling scene.
