On October 23, 2024, the Sierra Leone Embassy staff, Sierra Leonean community, and Students Union in Morocco gathered in Rabat to bid farewell to Ambassador Atumanni Dainkeh, marking the end of his mission in Morocco. At a luncheon hosted at the Embassy, Ambassador Dainkeh reflected on his tenure, expressing gratitude to President Julius Maada Bio and highlighting the milestones achieved in strengthening Sierra Leone-Morocco relations.
Under his leadership, Sierra Leone secured notable achievements, including an increase in Moroccan scholarships for Sierra Leonean students from 50 to 105 annually and an expansion of Morocco’s Hajj scholarship fund. Additionally, Morocco’s support was instrumental in Sierra Leone’s successful bid for a United Nations Security Council seat for the 2024-2025 term. Ambassador Dainkeh also facilitated 13 agreements covering energy, agriculture, security, tourism, youth empowerment, and education to bolster bilateral cooperation.
Haja Halimatu S. Bangura praised the Ambassador’s dedication, while representatives of the Students Union and Sierra Leone Community expressed gratitude for his mentorship and contributions. Ambassador Dainkeh thanked his colleagues and the community for their support and urged them to continue building strong ties with Morocco under the incoming Ambassador, Alhaji Momodu Koroma. His tenure concluded with his return to Sierra Leone on October 24, 2024.
