The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced a final extension for the asset declaration deadline, setting the new date as June 30, 2024. This extension, authorized by the Commissioner under Section 119(4) of the Anti-Corruption Act 2008, addresses difficulties some declarants have faced in using their unique National Identification Number (NIN) for the declaration form.

To facilitate compliance, public officers may now use their Passport Number if they do not have a NIN. This final deadline emphasizes the urgency for public officers to declare their assets.

Failure to comply will result in severe consequences:

a) Withholding Salary: The salary of any public officer who fails to declare their assets will be withheld.

b) Suspension: After one month of default, the public officer will face a three-month suspension.

c) Dismissal: Exceeding three months of default will lead to the dismissal of the public officer, with exceptions only for constitutionally protected positions.

The ACC highlights the seriousness of non-compliance, treating it as a deliberate act subject to the penalties prescribed by law.

The Commission urges all public officers who have not yet submitted their online Asset Declaration Forms to use this extension and promptly submit their forms.

For those facing challenges or needing assistance, the Assets Declaration Office of the Commission is ready to provide support and guidance. Adhering to this directive is crucial for upholding transparency and integrity in governance.
